In this context, the word runt is being used in an affectionate and teasing way, and there aren’t many implications for the puppy."
In our case, Miss Mabel was the last of the 5 to be born, and was the smallest. But she latched on like the rest, and has had an upward growth curve since day one. She and her brother look a lot alike in coat pattern, as they are both Red Merle Phantoms. She has grown a ton, and at age 11 days old, is now 1lb and 1oz!
